Sensi geofencing doesn’t seem to be working for me. What can I do, and what are best practices?
If geofencing isn’t working well for you, the first step you should take is to check your device’s settings and confirm you’ve allowed the Sensi app to always have access to your location. To confirm this on Apple (iOS) devices, go to your device’s Settings and find the Sensi app. Confirm that “Always” is selected under Location Access. Users with Android devices can do the same, however, the exact path to seeing this information is different by phone.
Other elements to keep in mind for best results:
- Keep mobile device Wi-Fi ON
- Keep mobile device Airplane Mode OFF
- Keep mobile device general Location Services ON
- Keep background app refresh on (iOS users)
- Turn location services to “high accuracy” (Android users)
Other notes
- Some mobile devices are unable to send and receive data while you are on a phone call. If your mobile phone has this restriction, Sensi will not be able to determine your location while you are on a call.
- Some mobile devices do not have the necessary hardware to support Location Services. Please check your device’s specifications.
- If your home’s Wi-Fi network is down, the geofence crossing can’t be communicated to your thermostat and your set points will not change.
